You do not need to know what you want. Most people do not, and being asked to make design decisions in that particular week is its own small cruelty. Tell us who it is for and roughly the feeling, and we will handle the rest.
We grow what the season allows and source the rest carefully. In an Iowa February that means most of it comes in. In June it can be almost entirely from here. Either way you get the same care put into it.

Arrangements for a service
Pieces sized for a funeral home or a church, made to read from the back of a room rather than close up. If you can tell us the venue we can tell you what actually works in that space, which is not always what a catalog photo suggests.

Standing pieces and easel work
The larger formal pieces that stand on their own beside a casket or an urn. These take the most lead time of anything on this page, so they are the first thing to ask about if the service is soon.

Casket and urn flowers
Designed for the specific piece they sit on and for the room they sit in. This is work where proportion matters more than variety, and it is worth a short conversation rather than a form.

Something for a front step
Often the more useful thing. An arrangement sent to a house says something a service piece cannot, and it arrives in the weeks afterward when most of the flowers have stopped coming and the hard part is starting.

A piece that means something specific
If there was a flower they grew, a color they wore, or a garden they kept, tell us. Building around one real detail is almost always better than building around a category, and it costs nothing extra to try.

During our growing season a meaningful share can come off this farm. Out of season it cannot, and we will tell you which you are getting rather than implying everything is local year round.

Given the date and the season we tell you what we can actually make, honestly. If the timeline is too tight for what you are asking for, we will say so rather than promise it and disappoint you that week.

We deliver it where it needs to be
To the venue for the service, or to a house afterward. We confirm the timing with you and get it there ahead of when it is needed, because being late to this is not a recoverable mistake.
Why we do this work
Sympathy work runs on short notice and does not care what season it is, which makes it one of the steadiest things a floral studio does. That is the practical reason it is on this site rather than left off a young business.
The real reason is different. Most of what a florist makes is for a day someone planned for months. This is for a day nobody planned for at all, and the flowers are doing something other than decorating. They are the thing people send when there is nothing to say.
Bronte has done design work long enough to know the difference between a piece that photographs well and a piece that holds a room, and this is work where the second one is the only one that counts.
We are a young business and we will tell you what we cannot do. If the timeline is impossible or the piece is beyond what we can make well that week, the right answer is to say so and point you somewhere else, and we will.
Questions people ask
How quickly can you turn something around?
It depends on the piece and the week. Smaller arrangements are usually possible on short notice. Large standing pieces need more lead time. Reach out as soon as you know the date and we will tell you honestly what is achievable.
Do you deliver to funeral homes?
Yes, around the Atlantic and Cass County area and out toward the Des Moines and Omaha metros. Tell us the venue and the time and we confirm delivery ahead of when it is needed.
What does it cost?
Sympathy work varies too much by size and season for a published number to mean anything. Tell us roughly what you have in mind to spend and we will tell you what is possible at that level, with no pressure either way.
I do not know what to order. Can you just decide?
Yes, and most people ask for exactly that. Tell us the setting, the date and anything you know about the person. We will make something appropriate and check with you before it is finished if anything is unclear.
Are the flowers grown on your farm?
Some of them, depending on the time of year. During our growing season a real share comes off this farm. In an Iowa winter it cannot, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
Can you match flowers to something specific?
Usually, and it is worth asking. A flower they grew or a color that meant something gives us a much better place to start than a general request. If a specific stem is out of season we will find the closest honest match.
